This may be more helpful than the above suggestion

If you're new to linux, please be careful in editing the grub. It can ruin your day. I recommend always creating backups of the files before editing.
The links in the previous replies are all you need to know about the basics of editing the grub.

mesuhas_sit: Welcome to Ubuntu and the Ubuntu forums.

Actually the second reference above was what the first one was based on. I wrote them both. But there is a third one that may be even easier to use as it doesn't provide as much information:
Grub 2 Title Tweaks (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1287602)

Early on there is a section on how to remove the MEMTEST86+ and Recovery Mode options, though you might want to leave the Recovery Mode option available for a while.

And one dealing with just the basics:
Grub 2 - 5 Common Tasks (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1302743)
