I'm trying out wine for the first time. I'm using the post from here on setting up Starcraft as a guide. When I run winecfg it detect the drives fine but when I click on the audio tab it crashes with the following in the terminal:

wine: creating configuration directory '/home/mark/.wine'...
wine: '/home/mark/.wine' created successfully.
Creating link /home/mark/.kde/socket-ubuntu.
can't create mcop directory

Any help on this?

BTW - Anybody have Battle for Middle Earth runnning on wine?

Thanks,

Mark

Update!

I found out how to get past this problem thanks to the earlier post "trouble with wine". Thanks to all the ubuntu community for unsurpassed linux support! This is one of the reasons I gave up on Mandriva after having used it since version 7.2. (aside from the problems making the same stuff work from one version to the next!)

I am still inetested to see if people are successfully running Battle for Middle Earth. How about that new Star Wars game? I also haven't seen any buzz about any of the Star Trek games (Armada 2). Just hoping for some good (my interpretation of course) games to play. If all that works what do I need Windows for?

Thanks,
Mark
