View Full Version : [ubuntu] Why can I see some but not all of my Windows files?

I tried Ubuntu from the disk last night. The most important thing at first for me is to get my bearings and see my drives. I see my external drive, and figured out where my c: drive is. But when I go, for example, to My Music on my external, all I see is a few pictures of album covers, no music files whatsoever. Similarly, I see some other files but not others. Why?

Try "Show Hidden Files" under the View menu or sinply hitting Ctrl+H.

Yeah, pretty sure hidden files show up for NTFS. That being said, it's usually better to have a shared NTFS partition instead of mounting your Windows partition in *nix. Shouldn't be a problem, but can cause issues. Better safe than sorry.
