My girlfriend and mother are obsessed with the linux games like Mahjongg, and I need to know is there anyway to download the linux games onto a windows XP. I've tried but cant convert either to Linux so can I put these games on windows?

if there simple games like that, then you can probably find some of them online, but other than that, i don't know any software to help you with that

Setting up a virtual machine is one option.
I've never seen any "wine" equivalent to play linux programs on windows. It must be possible since KDE can be on windows, i wonder if it can download the required packages for kde games... you should look into it.

Yeah, but last time I used Cygwin it was very terminal intensive, I do not think that casual Windows user could make use of it. It is easier to install a real linux distro.

You may be able to install KDE Mahjongg using KDE on Windows. It is native code and not emulated, but it is slightly confusing to install.

There are likely games of that type made for Windows of course. Try a good ol' search engine like google or yahoo. Search for "open source mahjongg windows" or such.

Just because nobody else has suggested it, and it's so glaringly obvious...

Why not just put Ubuntu on her computer?

I put Ubuntu on my girlfriend's computer 2 months after we met and she fell in love with it. And me too since we've been talking a lot about getting married. lol

Seriously, just toss it on there. If she doesn't like it, she can always go back.

I installed Ubuntu on my wife's computer in the days of Edgy Eft, she's since got a netbook, and told me that I had to install Ubuntu on that as well.

Try it, even if you just use the live CD for a while.
