Is there an effective way of getting TeamSpeak to work without me having to purchase another sound card?
-OR-
Is there an OpenSource alternative that is compatible with TS servers?

I know this won't help, much, but there has to be a way since my install of TS works fine. I didn't do anything specific as far as I remember, just installed and set up the options as normal.

I set up teamspeak normally and I didn't have any problems...should work your regular soundcard....integrated or not...just make sure ur sound is set to the card you are using and i had to do mic boost on ts cause they were having trouble hearing me but may be different for you

How do I set TS to use my card and not have it block the entire card? I have TS working, but when I goto play ET, I get no sound.

Looks like your sound card does not support hardware mixing, so you will have to enable software mixing.
Let the Wiki help you. (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems)
Read the software mixing session in that page. And let me know if it works ;)
