View Full Version : Ideas for a FOSS Blender game?

I'm taking up developing for the Blender game engine as a hobby, and I'd like to know what would be a good first project (other than simple maze games and the like). I've been considering a top down GTA-style game, like GTA 2 (with the 3D building effects). Another idea is a futuristic motorcycle racing game, kind of like if you crossed Jetmoto with F-Zero.
Any other ideas? I know some other people who'd like to make a game as well, so I think some input from a chunk of the Linux community could be helpful (as the game we end up making is going to be FOSS, most likely, if not it'd at least be ported to Linux).

writing a GTA like game would be very difficult for a first project IMO. Try a few entertaining but short games (idk, a tetherball game, a short/generated platformer), and try to pick up speed from there.

I was also thinking that I could make a simple racing game, with the same top down perspective. Then I could build upon that engine later on to create the GTA-style game, once I become more experienced.

Have the game revolving around this character and you are all set

When I read the title subject... what about a blender simulation? It would have simulated objects being put in a simulated blender, with full physics and elemental simulation. You could go full circle and do it within Blender.

Blender within Blender? Sounds a bit boring as a project to me but still a good idea.
