New Computer Transfer

My new build will be here tomorrow and I'll be looking to transfer my files and blank this old lappy out to be used as a server.

Now, I use a wireless network (with a limited transfer size, thanks verizon), and am curious to the best way to transfer my files. Would creating a SSH be the best scenario? Should I use +RW discs and flash media? Or is there a better way, such as connecting an ethernet cable or usb between the two?

I've explored a bit into this, but this is the first time i've ever had two computers.

Any help or points in direction would be GREATLY appreciated.

I was able to find information online that you can, indeed, use a USB (with two male ends) to connect two different PCs. Hopefully it's not only Windows that will recognize the other computer.
