I need something powerful in case if later I might have a little more complicated task? like converting .flv to .mp3.

Soundconverter (gnome) or soundkonverter (KDE) are nice and easy, and you've even *gasp* got a GUI!.

BTW, I think that soundkonverter might have a bit more format support. It runs on a gnome desktop, you dont need KDE for it to run.

Have you tried Audacity? It's pretty good at doing a whole slew of thing, especially conversions. It's not studio quality, but it ges the job done for me :)

sudo apt-get install audacity

Listen, I have Audacity, but never thought it would convert somth. Could you please give a quick hint. Or otherwise I will have to check the manual.

Hi,
To convert a file in Audacity select File --> Export... then click ok and select the file type and options (note options will change depending on selected file type).
