i have a nice wallpaper that is 1280x1024 i want to make it 1024x768. i tried using GIMP but it did not work for me or maybe i just don't know how to use the progam.
any idea?

In the image window, go to Image then Scale Image

You have to keep the proportions when you scale an image. The problem is that 1280x1024 will NEVER fit 1:1 into a 1600x1200 or 1024x768 format. You will need to cut off parts of the original image.

Man how stupid of me! I didn't even try it!
You don't neccessarily have to keep the proportions, but you will get a wierd looking picture if you don't. Yes cut some off I'm afraid.

i was afraid of that. when i tried it i was actually losing part of the image and i tought i didn't know what i was doing.
