well i just Ubuntu 6.10 installed on my G4.....I was wondering if there was any software that would be good to use or any that you could recommend

Hi Ken,

That really depends on what you want to use it for! The only thing I would mention is that Ubuntu 6.10 is a few years old and out of support now. Unfortunately Ubuntu no longer support PowerPC computers on any of their current releases. If you're new to Linux and want to try it out on your G4 I'm afraid you're going to have a slightly difficult time of it. If you're comfortable with Linux already I would suggest switching to Debian as they still support PowerPC. If you're new to Linux, you may find the latest (unsupported) PowerPC release of Ubuntu at http://torrent.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/karmic/release/ useful. Personally I have found it a bit buggy, hence the recommendation of Debian.
