2 Quake 4 questions

I just have two quake 4 questions nothing really needing help with

1. When I got to play multiplayer it closes down and reopens a new terminal and starts the game over. Is this normal?

2. My quake 4 single player would let me save all the settings I wanted. The multiplayer would not save any so I has to sudo cp the settings from single player into the multiplayer folder. Is this normal

For number one, it is normal as long as it starts up the multiplayer. If it actually starts the game over (puts you at the main menu) then that is not normal.

For number two, you should not have to do that. I remember I had some initial troubles with saving because the permissions on the folders were messed up.
