hello all.
another software I would like to share with the community is this Video edittor,
it is fantastic, it needs some time to get your head around it but it is worth it,
trust me.
I was thinking about getting AfterEffects for work, but I did not think are SME company with will wont to shed out a near £1000 for it. so I looked around and finially found this, It took me some time, i did see it ages ago and forgot the name.
http://www.jahshaka.org
anyhow do give it a try and help them out in any way you could, I am now in love ;)
I could work in peace. :)
oh and I know about cinelerra, its good but not avalible for windows,
another thing to note is that I have decided to donate my dual AMD athlon 1800mp to my office as A dedicated ubuntu Linux video horse \\:D/
I am known around the office as the open source linux freak,
and plan to keep pushing for open source software where ever i get the chance. [-(

That looks incredibly cool!
I do some video editing myself (nothing special, but it pops up in school projects pretty often), and this looks amazing! I'm impressed.

:) glad to bring everyone into this wonder full world, blendr3D and jahshaka,
I was wondering could someone in ubuntu make a ubuntu jahshaka package, with all the settings done, cos i wont to run ubuntu on this machine I am getting into work and wont to dedicate it for Video, so i will have, cinelerra, blender3D, and jahshaka installed, with the apprpreat network sharing.
this programe is an exciting development, and looking forward to V3.
Vubuntu - Video editing ubuntu flavour, that would be cool ;)

If you already installed, could you create a wiki page (wiki.ubuntu.com) and post a howto by any chance? preferably compiling from source (it's fun) using checkinstall (it's easier to uninstall)?
having a dial up, it's hard to download stuff just to see if I can even get it to work :)

Woot! I got it installed and running! I got the .rpms and alien'd them to generate .debs, which installed perfectly. There are three packages individually to install. Due to restraints on attachment size, I can't include the .debs, but I'll link to the sourceforge page where I got the .rpms.

Oh, and I got a screenie for you. It takes up about 1024x768 pixels, so be prepared to lose any panels if you're running it at that resolution.

I've tried Jahshaka on windows before, and it would crash if I looked at it sideways. Haven't tried it on Linux, though (tried to install it on SUSE a while ago, but being completely clueless I b0rked the whole thing).
I hope it's gotten improved. Hmm, only one way to find out, I guess.

Groet, Erik Yeah, upon using it, I noticed there were a few bugs, like visual artifacts occasionally. But no crashes.

Guys, question from a guy who just started using Ubuntu but really would like a quality NLE video editor-
How do I install Jahshaka? it doesn't open in the Software Center obviously, I downloaded the tar.gz file from the jahshaka.org site, then I have the option to save or use the archive manager to view it. I've done both; please help me, preferably with explicit directions:)
