View Full Version : [ubuntu] hi i made a very silly problem in my pc

ok
problem

several linux and windows in the same machine


story

i install ubuntu 9.10
them i formated windows disk and try to nstall windows xp it showed me one drive of 1.7 gb
insted of the 80 gb
i installed windows and after windows didn't install
i try to came back o linux but linux was not there!!!!
so i install linux again ( and i forgot the password) so i install linux again but i could get help...
so i realise that i should try windows i manage to get windows working and after that...
i could made download on windows because i didn't have space there...

conclusion
so i've now 3 linux and windows xp installed in my machine

i whant to have 1 linux and (40gb of space) and one windows and (40gb of space)

The rule is: always install windows first, then linux. I would suggest to start over from a clean drive and do it in that order. The ubuntu installer will let you choose how much of window's disk space to take and will make sure get a menu for choosing your OS at boot.

Step 1: Backup Everything! - I mean off the computer onto a "Nerd Knife"

Step 2: Boot from a windows CD delete existing partitions and install windows using the entire disk. (Let me know if you need more details on how to do this.)

you can load the live cd, open up gparted, format the 3 linux partitions the install it alongside windows

ok i see step2 last time i ask for formating my pc only could see 1.7gb from the 80 gb... that meens that i probalby need to do something that i still don't know...correct
