Hi!

I just recently went from having a 250GB hard drive to a 20GB ssd, so I've found myself making some adjustments in the way that I use my OS. Obviously, linux has worked beautifully with the small amount of space I have at my disposal, but I have run into problems when I try to install larger programs.

Because eclipse is such a large program with a lot of dependencies, I was wondering if it is possible to run eclipse from an external drive - and what that might require. I did a bit of research and found that this is certainly possible while running in a windows environment, as long as you direct eclipse to where it can find the jdk libraries:

Is this something that can be done similarly in linux?

Thanks!
