I have noticed differences in internet performance from windows to ubuntu. I was using different browsers in each OS so that also might have a role in the performance different but I am wondering if it is possible to "tweak" your internet setting in Ubuntu? I have come across an article that talks about this:

http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/

Has anyone tried something like this before, do it work?

Low speed is usually due to lame DNS servers. So look at Windows to see what it tis using and set Ubuntu the same.

Thanks for the tips, I have been running these online perform tests like speedtest.net or pingtest.net and get varying results. I'm not even too sure if I trust these results.

Anyone know of a test that can be run to get a good feel of your connection? I'm suppose to be getting 14Mb/sec but have measured as low as 2Mb/sec.
