I am just wondering, how many people here use it?
I like it a lot, except for one thing. I really like how rhythmbox uses that browser thing at the top that lets you select the songs by artist/album. If there is a way to do this in banshee, it would be near perfect, except for the fact that it uses up too much memory.

I mainly use xmms but sometimes I do use Banshee. It is still under heavy development so I guess it's going to be a while before I change full-time.

Like you I'm waiting for the browse by artist and album filtering like many library players already have. I also would like to toggle to a smaller GUI that does not take the entire desktop but still looks cool and lets you skip tracks on the playlist.

XMMS is cool, but the problem is if you have a bunch of songs, it is sometimes hard to get to one you want. I like banshee because you can easily find your songs by using the search box. You can also sort them. Is there a better way (e.g. some plugin) to view all your songs with XMMS?

I find quodlibet superior to banshee, and it provides a search function. It's more reliable, too.

Not that I know of... maybe there is, xmms has been around for years it seems. Try googling for xmms library plugin or something. :-k

I just browse my music folders and drag-drop the album I want to hear into the playlist.

sudo apt-get install madman might be what you're looking for if you don't mind getting KDE libs installed along with it.
