I want to install Ubuntu server 9.10 unto a PC which uses an Intel dual-core atom based processor. When I go to download Unbuntu server it only provides me with one download file which is ubuntu-9.10-server-amd64.iso. Is this the correct file for this Intel processor?

Thanks

That is the 64 bit version, is that what you want ?

If you want 32 bit, click on the "Alternative download options" link

Yes. "amd64" is the official name of the most commonly used 64 bit architecture (by both AMD and Intel). There is no such thing as "x64", which is what a lot of people are accustomed to.

All (modern) AMD and Intel CPU's support amd64 (except for some Intel Atoms).

But didn't the OP mention atom? I didn't realise they came in 64-bit versions...... :)

Wow, I missed that. Fortunately, the only dual-core Atom is the 330N, and it does have 64 bit support.

I use one myself in my own server. \\:D/

I've got an Atom 320N, it is 64-bit and hyper-threading, it is currently running Karmic 64-bit and being used as a media center pc. So the 330N will be more than adequate for a server, especially without a gui.
