I LOVE ubuntu!!! [Archive]

So I've been using Ubuntu for over two years as my main operating system. Windows sits never used on my dual boot desktop, and OS X has actually been removed from my macbook and replaced with Ubuntu. And the best part? It has all cost my NOTHING to have this awesome, constantly updated OS.

Anyway, that fact just crossed my mind. I wanted to take just a second to give thanks to all the people who give of themselves to make this community and OS tick.

I second that, i only have Windows for games, other than that i am using Ubuntu (mostly)

I started my Linux with Ubuntu and really, using it feels like "home," and distro-hopping feels like "going away to school." But I always love to come home.

Some snobby people at "school" have suggested that "Ubuntu makes Linux look bad." O posted my ranting response to that charge here (http://robinzrants.wordpress.com/2010/01/09/does-ubuntu-make-linux-look-bad/) (and it got over 100 hits the first day!).

So many people rave about how great OSX is, but you like ubuntu more? You don't feel too bad about paying that 'apple premium'? I haven't used OSX so I don't know how it really compares to something like Ubuntu but I'd be interested to know.

I used OS X on my iMac and I found nothing exciting about it. Of course I was planning on installing Ubuntu on it anyway before buying it but I was going to use it for couple of weeks.. Just to see what all this buzz is about OSX... Installed Ubuntu the next day... It seems like a good OS but I don't understand what people are finding so exciting about it... Sure it has a polished look & feel but nothing special...
