Noob here...

I have Ubuntu installed, using transmission client to download a torrent. The torrent is coming down at ~300kbps, but my internet connection speedtests @ 50mbps...how do I configure connection to utilize connection?

Gear:

wireless card: Intel 4965AGN
Router: Linksys WRT610N

Thanks in advance, all settings are factory.

I might not be a problem with Transmission. The downloadspeed of a torrent depends on the ratio of seeders/leechers. If there are few seeders compared to the number of leechers, your downloadspeed will be slow.

Edit -> Preferences -> Network
Make sure your port for incoming connections is open. You may have to set up port forwarding in your router's setup.

That is the Preferences in Transmission, from the Transmission application do Edit -> Preferences -> Network.
