So...I FINALLY got everything working seamlessly via wireless connections in both Win and Karmic, but this is my first N config, and I was just curious what kind of speeds I should be getting. I'm using speedtest.net and these are my results:

How does this stand in terms of net connection? I'm pretty clueless. Thanks.

n is up 300 Mbps.

34 (megabits / second) = 34 Mbps

34 Mbps is very good.. But your Internet connection is unlikely to come close to the speed of your wireless connection.

If you want to know what real speed your network connection can achieve try transferring a file between two computers in the LAN, meanwhile you can monitor your bandwith in a terminal with tools like bwm or iftop

sudo aptitude install bwm iftop

I'm a noob, I don't understand how to monitor a transfer between LAN devices. I have an networked media drive to pull from/load to though.

Oh, and I called and maxed out my internet connection today...The ISP claims (and charges me for) 20mbps download with a 5mbps boost "on demand" and 3mbps+.5mbps on the up, which they list as their max available connection. Here is my new wireless speedtest, via Intel 4865AGN....

As you can imagine, I'm seriously stoked.:D
