I installed Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) today. I tried everything to get the ATI card in my Acer laptop to function on both monitors (laptop and external LG 19 inch screen ( via VGA cable).
Have tried to use the ATI original drivers with ENVYng and I have tried the open source fglrx driver for ATI.
After a day working in this, I´ve cleaned up the xorg conf to and I am back to were I begun; with two monitors showing the same screen (with a pretty good resolution actually).
This is my first day working with Ubuntu, so I have obtained a basic understanding. Can anyone give my step-by-step, how-to instruction to install the right drivers, the right way so that I can use Ubuntu (dual head).
Cheers,
