Hi:
I have a few issues with networks on Ubuntu 9.10. Both wired and wireless networks work fine sometimes but are very difficult to work with at other times. I am listing some of the issues I have had so far.

1. Wireless network connections are sometimes very weak. If I use another computer running windows, I am able to detect some connections and connect to them easily. But on Ubuntu, they show up as very weak connections that I am not able to connect to.

2. Sometimes, the entire system hangs when I turn off the router.

3. If I turn on my computer and then plug the wired network cable, I am not able to detect the wired network at all. Running ifconfig shows that there is no wired network interface and I am not able to start it using network manager. The only way I am able to reconnect to the wired network is to restart the computer. Are there commands to restart interfaces without restarting the computer ?

Best,
Madhav.
