I decided to try out ubuntu after much persuasion from a friend but I have a problem.
ubuntu is alot different from windows..and honestly half the time when I go through guides I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing..anyway I really would appreciate it if SOMEBODY could PLEASE guide me through this and help me get my wireless INTERNET working on my laptop !

For some odd reason, ubuntu IS not dectecting an wireless card ( I think) when I click on the network button there is no option for wireless network..(the top right button)

Keep in mind that I've installed ubuntu using wubi and my other OS is windows 7 (everything works fine in windows 7 INCLUDING wireless)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Hi,

I couldn't find too many reports for a Realtek 8172 already working in linux. Some say it is compatible with the rtl8192se_pci modules, but it may require some serious linux voodoo to get this to work.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=48&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2302

Usually there will be an enthusiast who describes for his laptop what it takes to get all the functions working, So search on Toshiba, the model number and linux. Maybe that will provide better clues

Try the instructions here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_11b/g/n_Wireless_LAN_Mini-PCI_Express_Adapter_II

It seems drivers are available bot not part of Ubuntu by default.
If you don't understand something in the link ask in the thread.
