No URI handler implemented for "dvd"

Message received when selecting mplayer to play dvd in ubuntu 9.10

What is my next step?

I had the same problem. After some poking around, I found myself at the following link...

Not only did it describe what the problem was, following the instructions to install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package and run the .../libdvdread4/install-css.sh script allowed me to watch "Kelly's Heroes" flawlessly!

Used the link as suggested above. First time got a basic file not found error. Wound up re-installing the OS then used the link. I installed the package and now I don't get the "no uri handler found" but instead now get this:
"could not open location. you may not have permission to open the file".
:(

Just want to watch a DVD.

After a little more searching I found this link and followed the instructions...it now works great. Thank you.

This resolved the 'no permission' problem.
