Since the "find" command found a stage1 I think you still have legacy grub so I doubt those grub2 restore steps are going to help you.
The most helpful thing would be to see the results of the Boot Info Script run from Live CD as explained here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1291280
