Are you saying howto's aren't just a "normal" post with the words "HowTo" as an identifier? Just wondering cos then I should probably send in the one on my signature.

All posts are moderated in that forum so as not to fill it with junk - so you have to wait for a mod to approve it.
btw I can't see anything in your sig?

There is a problem with the control panel that we use to approve these posts at the moment.
I'm sure it will be fixed soon :)

Just for the record, I've posted about three or four HowTos, and they've never taken longer than two days to get approved.
I think that's what ordinarily happens.

There's always the Ubuntu wiki to post things on, if you want to help: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/
More permanent than the fast-moving HowTo forum here, and it's easier to keep updated & for other people to contribute.
Or post in both, but provide a link in your first post to the wiki article you've written, for maximum possible feedback!

Not to worry! Most likely, the archive team will catch it and put your howto on the archive - so that everyone will be able to get to it at any time, and it won't be on the 3rd page. :D They're pretty good about catching howtos and giving them a stable home.

Zippy forward it on over to one of us on Team Archival (fka Team Bahamut), we will get it on to the Archive (http://doc.gwos.org). Our QA guys will even test it before we get it up there.
=) all is well.
