I've been asked at work to redesign one of our client's sites and incorporate a CMS. I dont have any experience with them, im much more at home with Photoshop / xHTML and CSS etc Are there any ligthweight or "easy to learn" systems available?

Well, I would recommend 'Mambo'. It is easy to learn and quick to implement + has lots of very good features.

I second the use of Joomla! it can use all the modules of Mambo and Joomla! is very loyal to the opensource model, Mambo was beginning to stray from the opensource model and some core developers from Mambo didnt like that and left to form Joomla! and that is why Joomla! is compatible with all Mambo modules and add-ons.

I would suggest Joomla! because its good, secure, and its developers are diehard opensource supporters. :KS

Yep, here also joomla, it's a very wide package that can do a lot of things. I found the learning curve of the web based administration a little big though, but that's with most of these CMS systems with many features.
