(Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope) Is there any webcam viewer, featuring bright/contrast control, from the traditional repositories if possible.

I am using Cheese now, but the Japalope repositories don't have Cheese with contrast/bright controls.
I was looking for an alternative.
I suppose that the latest version of Cheese may feature it for Jpalope~Ubuntu too, but ~frankly~ I've got no idea how to install it (it demands the installation of many ancillary things).

Look in the Edit tab. Aren't there options (sliders) for brightness, contrast, etc.?

No. It doesn't. It never did actually.
For the record, it is Cheese 2.26.0.

I am using Cheese 2.28.0 and under the Edit menu I choose Preferences. In the Presences window are sliders for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Hue.

Hope that helps.
