Hi there. I am trying to load Ubuntu 9.x for the first time onto a formatted HDD via CD ROM on a SiS-based PC using an old monochrome monitor. The Ubunto startup menu runs in visible monochrome but as soon as installation begins the display collapses. Is there a way to force the BIOS to stay in monochrome or should I forget it and go and buy a newer monitor?
