I have this USB tuner device to bring in free QAM HD channels from our cable provider. When it works, it works well and the picture is incredible. However, I've missed a couple of scheduled shows because it never got locked onto the channel. This also happens when watching Live TV and trying to change channels. Sometimes it locks fairly quickly and without much fuss. Other times it displays random green and black squares and makes an atrocious sound through the speakers before finally either tuning in after a couple of minutes, or locking the frontend so I must kill it from the command line.
Any one have experience with this device? Is this to be expected using it with QAM or is something wrong? Would another device work better or do I need to call Charter?
