I installed the Google OS from a disk that came in wired magazine last summer. It's based on Ubuntu 8.04.1. Unfortunately I've lost the username and password and that computer is now useless. I need to uninstall the program but I can't get past the OS welcome screen where I am supposed to enter a user name and password. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

Hi, the Google OS forum is over here --> http://www.chromeosgroup.com/talk/

You'd be best asking over there, as "based on" is NOT same as !!!

Dependent on how / where you installed it - it may be possible to get back data from it. But I have zero knowledge of their OS.

Phill.

Are you referring to gOS (http://www.thinkgos.com/gos/index.html)? It looks like the screen shot in the link. It's not made by Google but it uses Google Gadgets and the Google apps with Prizm.

If you are, just fire up the Live CD and copy your files to a USB or external hard drive. You also could reinstall the OS and preserve your home directory (it's an install option).
