Hi everyone,
Im new to the ubuntu community and a friend just gave me a cd for ubuntu 9.10 and it sparked my interest about getting into the linux community. Im not sure if this version will work so before i go installing it carelessly im hoping to get some input from people who know what they're doing

I currently own an XPS m1330 that i use regularly, and an aspire 5672, which i use not so much. Considering the aspire gets little to no usage right now ive decided that i want to completely remove XP pro, as im just not a fan of it anymore, and learn the linux system on it versus my dell

becuase i dont really know anything about installing ubuntu im hoping someone here can help me out by letting me know which version will work best with my 5672WLMi and how to go about installing it.

If anyone can just give me a nice tutorial on what i need to do i would greatly appreciate it, as my research on implementing linux onto this laptop has thus far got me nowhere.

Thanks in advance, im hoping to get some good usage out of my acer as more of a desktop setup, not sure if that makes any difference, just cant justify it being retired on a shelf for any longer. And, sorry for sounding like a noob, just figured its better to ask for help in the first place than stress out over trying to configure an OS i know next to nothing about

Your wireless and dial-up modem are the only things I can see you having trouble with after installing Ubuntu.

I suggest Ubuntu to be honest, or Xubuntu.
