Howdy, I don't know much about Linux yet, but I know about the so called "SMART" program. It says I have a bad disk, and I checked it with windows and other programs and its fine.

Now the question is - how do I turn this thing off? I keep hearing "do it in the bios" but I have no idea what that means. Is there anyone out there that can guide me through turning off SMART so I can complete my install?

Thnx

Do it in the BIOS.

When the computer loads up, you generally press DEL to get into the BIOS menu (watch the screen closely when you turn it on). Also, triple-check your disks using manufacturer tools; SMART doesn't lie, and your disk will have developed a 'fault'. Whether or not that fault will cause you any problems is another matter.
