I just downloaded Google Chrome for Ubuntu and am so far loving it. It's so much faster than Firefox. The only problem is that it kind of stands out from the rest of my Ubuntu theme. Does anyone know of a theme I can download to make the rest of my desktop match Google Chrome?

There is also a simple toggle in Preferences, under Personal Stuff (from memory), that switches between the chrome theme and the system gnome theme. I found this worked perfectly.

I like the chrome but it is not secure. It lacks master password... see what happened in china over a hack using IE?

Hi,

In the "Options tab and "personal stuff" click on the link to "get themes" the first presented are artistic to say the least, but if you click on the tab "Themes by Google" there are some that will match your decor.

Thank you very much. Somehow, I never noticed that simple option.

I'm confused by this. Google chrome is actually pretty secure. They use sandboxing (http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/sandbox) which is pretty ingenious. As for the hacks (if you're referring to the gmail accounts that were hacked earlier this year), that had nothing to do with what broswer was in use.

I believe Firefox is now "sandboxing" too (as of 3.6.4) by having plugins run as separate processes (separate from the rendering engine). This prevents malicious Flash applications from crashing (and then hijacking) your browser.

I think the original poster was referring to the fact that there is no master password to protect all saved passwords. For the security conscious, the current solution is to never save passwords. However, an experimental master password feature is being tested in the latest dev version of Chrome (6.0.453.1).

Sweet :)

Chrome encrypts the saved passwords, while FF only encrypts if you have a master password set - the only reason I use a master pwd with FF.

Otherwise I wouldn't really bother, I lock my station either way when I leave it. ;)
