OSX and Terminal on desktop

I used to run a terminal on my desktop in Ubuntu just like the example in the attached image. Is it possible to do something like this OSX? This is my first 24 hours using a Mac OS so I'm very new to things...

There is also a terminal program for MacOSX. You will find it under Applications, Utilities I thought.

My fault, I forgot to attach the picture so I could be more clear. I want the terminal application to be attached permanently to the desktop and slightly transparent

Go to macupdate.com and look for an app called geektools.
Should do what you want and more.
