I'd like to set up Network that allows me to download music to a MythTV backend from my office desktop, then play the library on a frontend on my TV.

Here's my idea for configuration:

MythTV backend (Dell Dimension 2350, KnoppMyth) sits in closet - has my USB HD with my current library attached. Purchase a new IDE HD internal for more storage.

Current Ubuntu desktop (Home-brew quad-core AMD 3GB RAM, Mythbuntu 8.04 LTS) sits on my office desk. I download from here to the USB drive over the network.

A thin client - (HP t5700, Knoppmyth) sits on the TV, MythTV front end.

Here's my questions:

How do I set up the drives on the network so that all machines access them like they need to? Is there a how-to on that? I have the router, no network in my apartment yet.

Is there a way to share playlists between Songbird on my desktop with MythTV?

Is there any way to share the database of info that keeps track of last played, rating, etc?

Being able to do these types of things, know how they work, and customize them, is why I run Linux.
