I recently had what I think was a gnome or kernel update in the past 72 hrs and I have just now restarted my computer...

However, when I reboot, my usual occurs except for arriving at the Karmic login at which point all of my inputs die (no KM activity possible) and i get a "brown screen" (blue screen pun intended) but I have no option for karmic to let me select a user or input pwd or anything at all, the screen is 100% blank..

any help ??? , i kinda need this to work for school, lol, it's the week before finals here :(

I recently updated my kernel but I haven't had this problem. Perhaps at the boot screen you should choose the kernel version you had before the update. Usually Ubuntu will save two or three kernel versions for you and have them listed on the grub menu. I hope this helps.
