I have some questions about the .ICEauthority file in the home folder. When I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix to Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix (on a Dell mini 9), i restored my files and found that I didn't have the shut down menu. after reinstalling three or four times, I looked through my hidden folders and choose not to restore my .ICEauthority file from 9.04 and i got my shut down menu back. What exactly does this file do, I read that it was a security file, but the way this looks like on my computer, it has something to do with the GUI. Does anyone know what this file does?
