Avi file problem

Hello all and happy holidays--I have an issue with an AVI file here--VLC AND TOTEM wont play it--Is there a simple fix to get it to work? VLC says it cant open the file.. Thanks so much for any input... Mark

Can you attempt to open the file from the commandline as follows:


cvlc -v my_file.avi

and post the command + full terminal output here?
