Hai, from my previous thread I said I was building a computer. :D. But I looked on the AMD website and it said that I can only go up to 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM. The type of RAM that I am buying is 1600Mhz. Will it work regardless? The motherboard does support 1600MHz, so that's not a problem. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to do this.

It will just clock the RAM down to 1333MHz. It'll work fine.

Why not just buy the 1333MHz?

Why not just buy the 1333MHz?

I thought 1600Mhz would be fine. Then I became skeptical once I looked at AMD's page for Phenom II's. It's too late now because the product is already bought.

If you ever upgrade the processor that supports it, you'll have access to the higher speeds instantly. Future-proofing.

1600mhz will work just fine.

you can likely find 1333mhz ram for cheaper, as it is lower quality. that general rule of thumb does not apply when something is on sale, however.

if you mix and match different speeds, it will go as fast as the slowest.
