What are the reasons that often Guest Linux runs better on xVM than on the "bare" Metal Ubuntu. (Firefox Ubuntu 9.04)?

ubuntu karmic 9.10
Lenovo Desktop 0.5 MB memory
SUN xVM desktop "virtualbox"
