I'm not sure this is the right place for this thread, since I'm not sure if this is about artwork or usability, Ubuntu or Gnome, maybe GTK...

Anyway, when I see a menu item or a button that has an icon, I automatically feel it's an 'important' item. I tend to ignore items without icons. I don't know if it's just me or if it happens to other people too. I also think that menus and dialog boxes look better when all the items have icons.

So I was wondering if there was a discussion going somewhere about this issue. I could'nt find one anywhere.

Also, I have a few suggestions for missing icons - for example, I think the Exit Without Saving button in Gimp could have a small cloud icon, hinting "poof! all your work will be gone!" or the Empty Trash menu item in Gnome Panel could have an icon showing an upside down trash can with papers falling out of it.

Where is the right place to suggest these things?
