Hi everyone,

I have recently installed the 9.10 ubuntu version, but have problems recognizing my wirless usb device. First I take a look to the lsusb output, here it comes:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0bda:8187 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187 Wireless Adapter

Then I start getting the windows xp driver from the original cd and get to work with ndiswrapper, here are my steps:

>ndiswrapper -i Netrtuw.inf
>ndiswrapper -l

netrtuw : driver installed
device (0BDA:8187) present (alternate driver: rtl8187)

Oh!, then I'll try to remove that alternate driver ...

>modprobe -r rtl8187
>rmmod rtl8187
>lsmod | grep rtl8187
> lsmod | grep *8187

The last two, returned nothing, that looks fine.

>depmod -a
>modprobe ndiswrapper
>dmesg

OK! At this point I start the system and ... :

dmesg after >ifconfig wlan0 up

ndiswrapper -l still returns:
netrtuw : driver installed
device (0BDA:8187) present (alternate driver: rtl8187)

Finally The wireless icon in the Desktop appears to be "disconnected" and there's no way to bring it up, there's even no option to connect or scan wirless networks. And by "connect to a hidden network" option I get nothing ....

Any ideas, please help, I don't know how to continue !
