I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my home desktop machine last weekend and I seem to be having some kind of issue with my internet. It seems to be an intermisttent issue where my Firefox just stops loading webpages for about 5mins, and then suddenly starts working again.
My computer is connected to my router through a wired Ethernet cable. I know it's not my Firefox because Opera does this too and I have tried ping tests which always fail but come back to llife afterwards. Also, I know it's not my router because whilst I have the issue I can't even access my router from within Ubuntu.
I spoke to my friend and he says he is experiencing a similar issue. He has a very similar pc to mine: Intel Quad Core CPU, 3GB ram, nVidia GPU, not sure about motherboard/chipset, and of course Ubuntu 9.10 64bit.
Any suggestions, ideas are welcome!
