I usually use 8.04, kept fully updated, and have just downloaded a flash (I think) video from utube, via flashgot (addon) and wget.

The file plays ok in 9.04, but I get errors in 8.04, even though I believe I have all multimedia codecs installed in the 8.04
I have tried playing the file with
avidemux gtk+
movieplayer
moviplayer (gstreamer)
VLC mediaplayer
and all refuse showing codec or similar error, or do not play.

fwiw the target video here is stallman

but the same happens when downloading other utube items too.

However, in 9.04 I can play the file ok, no problem.

Any suggestions please what is happening and what I can do to continue using 8.04 LTS?
