Display problems on Gnome Live CD

I have tried the live cd on many emacs and imacs, but as soon as it loads ubuntu the screen goes blank, I heard the start up noise on one, but it shows nothing, I think it is a resolution problem, when it asks for the resolution what should I use? They are 15" and 17".

Depending on models, it could be a horizontal and vertical frequency problem. The fixes in this post work for iMac G3's; can't speak for eMac's:
