View Full Version : [other] My configuration just won't work!

I'd like to be able to use my network as follows:

Phone Line
O2 Modem
Wireless Wired
---Other PCs - Netgear WGR614v7 router
----------------2 PCs

However, the WGR614v7 router won't let me see any other computers on the WAN/LAN that are 'above' the router - ie PCs in 'other pcs' - which as a matter of fact contains my home server. Well, technically it can see the PCs but it won't let me connect to them as if they were on the same domain - well they aren't on the same domain.

I think it's because the WGR router is running a DHCP server. However, when I tried disabling the DHCP server on it I couldn't connect to the DHCP server running on the main O2 modem from a PC behind the WGR and so couldn't access anything - not even the WGR which meant I had to restore the WGR's factory settings with the reset switch on it.

The reason I'm using the WGR is because there's a room with two PCs in it but only one ethernet outlet.

So I guess the question is: what do you think I need to do on the WGR614 (netgear) router to enable me to safely disable its DHCP server and let the PCs behind it connect to the main router's DHCP server instead?
