VPN for Beginners

Hi, i access the internet using verizon mobile broadband. according to speedtest.net i get 600 to 1400 kbps, however in the time it takes my comps to acess the server to download whatever the speed is reduced to 20kbps. the nice verizon man said setting up a vpn for all of my comps to connect to vz moboBroadband should solve the prob.
so what do i do?

I'd point you at this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VPNClient) VPN help page - but doubt it will provide the info you need. Here (http://www.cs.umn.edu/help/offsite/vpn.php) is another How-To... again, questionable benefit, but I hope they might help.
