I tried running Guild Wars in Wine in Ubuntu 9.04 and it didn't work on my 4870. When I tried it with my 3870 it worked rather good. I heard that the newer the video card the more time it took them to actually get it working right in video games. So I was wondering if anyone here with one of these cards has been able to make Guild Wars, WoW or Aion play on their wine installation. If they could link to a how to tutorial I'd be grateful. But all in all I'm posting this just to ask the people who have one how has it worked for them under wine. I'm looking forward to having just Ubuntu on my computer with Aion and WoW (mainly) installed in it. They're the games I play the most so if I manage to get them running I won't be having to switch constantly between windows and Ubuntu.
One thing I noticed when it first failed the time I tried it was that once you tried to play the game (GW in this case) even when you turned wine off, the interface would not be as responsive and the resolution some times changed to some lower one. Then it wouldn't work like it should untill you rebooted Ubuntu. I would not like to have to deal with that.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
