I recently got a Netwalker and have been trying to get XMAME to run.

The message I get when trying to run it is:

error: compiled byte ordering doesn't match machine byte ordering
compiled for MSB first, are you sure you chose the right cpu in makefile.unix?
I got this when trying to compile it myself and also when installing it through the software installer.

The Netwalker uses an ARMEL processor, or at least, that's what it's told me. The brochures say Freescale Semiconductor i.MX515. The OS is Ubuntu 9.04.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? XMAME does run on ARM processors, doesn't it?

Hm, well I don't have much experience but perhaps you could try downloading the armel deb directly:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmame/0.106-3.1ubuntu2

Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but how do you like the Netwalker?

It's VERY cool :D Best $400 I've spent in a long time, IMO.

The only problem I've had is compiling applications. I'm guessing it's because of the ARMel proc. Other than that, it's been lots of fun - I use it on the train back & forth to work, at home, in bed to read books, etc. It works with my eMobile modem, so I can surf the internet anywhere I want.

Any update on how things are going with your Netwalker???

Curious as I have thought about getting one, but since I am in USA and have to either import one through Conics.net or buy one used here in USA from someone, it's really helpful to get any feedback I can on them....it's very hard to get feedback on them here...

If you prefer you can PM me instead of posting here, since it's a bit off-topic....

Also, since you're in Japan it seems, how are they selling there? are they popular like Zaurus was or ?

There is a new Netwalker Users' Group forming on Yahoo. You might put your questions there:

There's already an established Netwalker forum over at OESF.org...which makes sense as OESF forums is the global central location for all things related to the Sharp Zaurus, which is the predecessor of sorts for the new Sharp Netwalker....

Check it out at
